Definitely, I haven’t missed them and I wasn’t wondering where they are. Not having enjoyed their debut “Waface” in the least, I kinda hoped that this was a one-album-thing, but to my surprise it wasn’t!
What has changed here? Well nothing really, even though the band describes “II” “a natural progression”! What progression?! Same old metallic hardcore, metalcore mixed with modern heavy-thrash & heavy rock music influenced by Black Sabbath, Machine Head, Soufly, Slayer (not their classic era), Pantera (their modern more hardcore tracks) & Fear Factory among others. The production is somewhat alike to the debut, being neither too heavy nor punchy at all. It’s OK, but I was expecting something more dynamic.
Honestly, there’s not much to say about this album. You either fancy this kind of music and you give it a chance or not and you let it go. The fact that this is Antton Lant’s (ex-Venom, Mpire of Evil) band does not change a thing on the final outcome. We care about a band’s music and not about its members. If those things can be combined then that’s fine, if not then none gives a shit. Probably, “II” is a tad more listenable than the debut but then again, it takes more than that to make you wanna play it or buy it. It will be a wager to see for how many years this band will go on…
