“Light the Night, Feed the Flame” is the debut by Stuttgart stoner rockers Brothers Of The Head. The mix equally the Sabbath and Kyuss schools, graduating with a style that’s somewhere in the middle, noisy, brassy and loud. They feature two guitarists, namely a Karl Francis (guitar), a British gentleman and former member of the UK hardcore band Bomb Disneyland, and another bloke that goes by the name of Pappy Van Linkle, Amin Axestoneville on drums, and I suppose their vocalist Cody Barcelona might also be contributing bass? Who knows?! Their songs are quite similar, with similar sounding downtuned riffs and grunged vocals... which are not too great or bad, but fit the bill rather well.

Opener “Mexico, Sweet Mexico” is a pretty good hempy cut, while the next couple of tunes “Son of the Sun” and “Slipping Away” get progressively slower, heavier and fuzzier, without being able to stand out...

“No Free Ride” tries to desert out things a bit, but has a bit of rock ‘n roll pathos about it, which makes it OK…

“Taken by the Light” loses steam and it’s only the final jammy “Supernova City” that manages to recapture a bit of the flair, of the desert burning sun and mix it with its fuzzy guitars...

Overall, nothing groundbreaking, a decent stoner band with typical songs for the genre, that is unlikely to make heads turn, as they’ll be too stoned to move anyway!
