A Killer’s Confession is the new project by the former Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis. Not long after this project was formed, AKC were signed to EMP Label Group. Waylon has Jon Dale on drums, JP Cross on bass, Matt Trumpy on guitar, and Paul Elliott on guitar by his side.

Now on the music part AKC blend modern metal, alternative metal, metalcore and nu-metal with various industrial & extreme elements. The album features guest appearances by Brian Head Welch (Korn) on “A Killer’s Confession” and Kimberly Freeman (One Eyed Doll) on “Sympathy”, which is probably the most tasteful track in the album. Other than that, the homonymous track, “Rebirth” (the first single) and “1080p” are also very good tracks. The others are not bad, but they are groovy and extreme just for the sake of it, without being anything to write home about. The production is very powerful and modern as well. The album was produced by Reavis and the song “A Killer’s Confession” was co-produced by Thom Hazaert, with engineer/mixer Richard Easterling (American Head Charge, Doll Skin, Emperors and Elephants) at Richmond, KY’s Third Sky Studio.

I do think that the band should focus on tracks like “Rebirth”, “Sympathy” and the homonymous one, since the modern melodic heavy recipe works better for them, at least to my ears. Anyhow, this is just the debut album that will show the band’s way for the future, according to the reception it will get from the fans…
