I would bet that this band was a newcomer attracted by groups like: Coldplay, Keane, Hoobastank, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Kings of Leon, Muse and so forth which decided to make the big step. But no, that ain’t the case here, cuz’ ØL has been in the music scene since 1996 and they have released several albums, EPs etcetera. I do not know how they used to sound a decade or so ago, but I do know that this alternative, popish, gay rock with lots of pleasing easy-listening parts, always made me horrified over music. After this I would probably need to listen to Cannibal Corpse in order to get well!
Generally speaking, there’s nothing wrong with the band. They try to do what the above-mentioned “famous” bands are doing and although they all started at the same period (more or less) some became more popular than others. The tunes are OK, they got some nice melodies, the whole package is very light, smooth and popish for my linking but it will leave a better taste to those who like bands like Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Keane and all that. The production is fine, polished and elegant in a way.
Repentantly, this ain’t my thing at all. I was never into that popish alternative “rock” music trend, so it’s kind of late to be now. As their press release, which is rather poor, I also have nothing else to say. Watch the video and find out for the rest yourself…
