Everything is set for studs, leather and speed when the trio Mayhem, Aura Noir and Nifelheim for Tons of Rock 2015, was announced! In additing to a special audience selected show from the black metal founders Venom, yuo’re in for a major blast at Fredriksten Festning.
Mayhem:
This is the lead act when history of black metal has been, is and will be written. Norway’s first, and markable in the 90s when murders, church burnings and cult movements overshadowed the musical content for the regular Norwegian and elsewhere in the world. In spite of classics like "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas", the names alawys connected with Mayhem are such as Count Grishnack, Euronymous and Helvete and the horrid stories around this. Luckily, this has changed by time, and Mayhem today stands out with their artistic efforts instead, with modern day classics such as "Chimera", "Ordo Ad Chao" and their newest release "Esoteric Warfare".
Aura Noir:
In a time where most people didn’t give a rat’s ass about thrash metal, and black metal was the new black(…) within the more extreme directions, a few hardcore bands emerged with the sole goal of preserving the legacy of bands like Venom, Sodom and Destruction, with an even more hellish approach. This was the start of black thrash, and the kings of the wave was Norway’s own Aura Noir.
Nifelheim:
Swedens biggest export within the same genre today is Nifelheim. Most known for their appearance in a Swedish documentary following two brothers who are die hard Iron Maiden fans, the «Hard Rock Brothers» also front the stud and nail coveret beast that is Nifelheim.
In addition to this, there are of course bands on the billing like Twisted Sister, Venom, Gojira, Opeth, Parkway Drive, Testament and Kreator, and everything is shaping up to be a diverse and legendary followup to 2014 debut year for Tons of Rock!
