The Lazlo Device announces new album “You Stumble, I Fall” and shares first title track single

The Lazlo Device You Stumble, I Fall single cover
London-based experimental post-rockers The Lazlo Device are set to release the title track from their upcoming album, “You Stumble, I Fall” on April 27th, 2018.

It follows on from their debut album, “Duelism”, released in 2016, as well as several EPs which has earned them comparison to Radiohead, Arcade Fire, and Beta Band, amongst others.

Desert rock, jazz, world music, hip-hop and experimental styles merge to form the hybrid beast that is “You Stumble, I Fall”, one that grows from tweaking atmospheric beginnings into something gigantic. A cocktail of desert-summoning guitar and saxophone with beat-and-bass that carves out alleyways of noir-flavoured rhythms, the vocals curl low and smoky, a slow meander of a verse charged with ominous ambience. The sludgy chorus storms in, an anthemic stomping cavalcade with bombastic bass, guttural vocals, and a canopy of exotic melody.

“The song was written after a Sitar lesson in Udaipur whilst traveling in India in 2015”, explains guitarist Ross Saunders. “It combines traditional Indian music and grooves with our love of post-rock. The addition of soprano sax, joining in with the ragas in some places and free-styling in others, brought the whole thing together”.

The versatility of the saxophone makes for a feeling of intense street-level mysticism as much as soaring chaos, bridging the earthy rhythms of this track with its explosive, unfettered side. The intricacy of the drums helps illustrate this feeling of nocturnal anxiety running through the track, rapid-fire hi-hats and countless fills jolting before the whole track comes together for its crashing outro; thick wedges of distorted guitar like a sandstorm gale, screaming sax, and a hail of percussive hits create this meteoric finale to this dynamic track.

“You Stumble, I Fall” is set to drop on April 27th, with two more singles to follow before the release of the album later in the year.
