The Erkonauts to release new studio album “I Want It to End” on October 1st 2020

The Erkonauts I Want It to End cover
Hailing from Geneva, Switzerland, chaotic prog-punk-metal powerhouse The Erkonauts have released further details of their forthcoming third studio album, “I Want It to End”.

Recorded and mixed by Drop at Downtone studio and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, “I Want It to End” will release on October 1st, 2020.

Of the album, The Erkonauts’ vocalist and bassist Ales Campanelli comments:
“This album is without a doubt my most personal work, and the most honest I’ve ever been with myself during the creative process. "I Want It to End" comes from hard times, heavy struggles and a lot of self-loathing. It was kind of a make or break situation. I put my last energy into it and came out feeling totally rejuvenated. A therapy of sorts. The people who worked and played on the record totally understood the situation and gave stellar performances and guidance. "I Want It to End" stands for a need for change”.

The recently-released first track drawn from the ominously titled third studio offering stands as testament to The Erkonauts’ veritable smorgasbord of musical influences, as “War Flamingoes” explores a musical landscape that pulls on a variety of threads. From the intense melodic prowess of Mastodon, the chaoticness of System of a Down, to the pulsing and relentless rhythmic mastery of Gojira, The Erkonauts form a sound that simultaneously hypnotises and delivers a powerful drop-kick to the face.

Campanelli recently shared a bass playthrough video of the track on YouTube, which featured on Guitar World’s website. Watch the video here.

The bassist, who has historically played with industrial metal band Sybreed and extreme metal band Samael, spoke of the playthrough, stating:
“This song is obviously weird on the bass. It combines two of my unconditional loves: chord play and slap. So it’s all about dropping the pick and getting it back. Can’t wait to see how this is going to work live, in a hopefully not too distant future”.

Billed as the “darkest” of The Erkonauts’ full-length studio entries, the upcoming third album “I Want It to End” bears the weight of troubled times, providing a brutally honest retelling of all that the band have endured over the past three years. The album has been drawn together from a previous line-up of musicians, including - Drop (guitars), Vinch Enzo (drums) and  Fred Di Limoncelli (lead guitars).
