UK’s finest, New Wave of British Heavy Metal heroes Monument return with the follow-up to “Renegades” (MGR Music, 2014), their sophomore full length album, “Hair of the Dog”, which is going to be relased on June 10th, 2016 via Rock Of Angels Records (ROAR).
Described as their best musical creation up-to-date, “Hair of the Dog” features memorable guitar riffs and twin guitar leads, catchy and powerful tenor vocals, performed by talented frontman Peter Ellis (ex-White Wizzard) and a tight-as-fuck rhythm section that brings in mind the Iron Maiden and Judas Priest legacy are the main elements of the Monument sound, but only few of the reasons why one should get this album.
Deriving from the glorious past of heavy metal music but still being firmly rooted in the present (as previously stated by Spanish magazine “Heavy Rock”), “Hair of the Dog” sounds fresh and updated, being also suitable for fans of the heavy-metal-revival movement of NWOTHM and of bands such as Enforcer, White Wizzard, Cauldron and Elm Street.
Empowered by the slick, powerful, but still a bit retro-loving production of acknowledged extreme metal producer, Scott Atkins (Cradle of Filth, Behemoth, Sylosis etc.), Monument’s new creation is already a nominee for heavy metal album of the year 2016. Monument is undoubtedly one of the rising forces of the modern-day traditional heavy metal sound and “Hair of the Dog” is the living proof.
The cover artwork was designed by Stan W. Decker (Blackmore’s Night, Last in Line, Masterplan, etc.) and the booklet layout was arranged by John “Remedy Art Design” Νakos (Oceans of Slumber, Mortal Torment, etc.).

A brand new lyric video for the song “A Bridge Too Far” will premiere on Friday, April 29th, so stay tuned. The lyrics on the song “A Bridge Too Far” were written in collaboration with Bruce Dickinson’s bass player, Chris Dale, who is a close friend of the band and filled in for them while they were looking for a permanent bass player.
