Of the vocalists that emerged in the late 80s, few standout more than Sebastian Bach. Whether you love him or hate him, one cannot deny that Bach has an incredible vocal range that is both powerful and unique. The burning question for most fans regarding singers that have been in the music industry for 30 plus years is “do they still have it?”. After watching his performance on July 7th, 2015, at the Rams Head Live in Baltimore, Maryland, I’m happy to say he certainly does still have it.
Sebastian Bach and his band took the stage promptly at 9:45 pm and to the crowds delight, they tore into a great rendition of the hard rocking, “Slave to the Grind”. Bach had the full attention of the audience as he paced the stage, whipping his hair about in true head banging fashion and spinning his microphone in large circles around his head. There was no doubt he was in his element and was immensely enjoying himself as he quipped with the audience and entertained the room. At one point, he borrowed a fan’s cell phone and pretended to chew on it as a playful display of his alleged disdain of cell phone use during his performances.
Sebastian Bach currently tours with Bobbie Jarzombek (drums), Jeff Kollman (guitar) and Kevin Chown (bass). During their set, they covered Skid Row classics such as “Piece of Me”, “18 and Life”, “I Remember You”, “Monkey Business” and “Youth Gone Wild”, as well as a few gems (“Hell Inside My Head”, “Temptation”) from the well received 2014 release, “Give ‘em Hell”.
Overall, this was a fine performance by Bach and his band. His voice held up well during the course of the show that lasted just over one and a quarter hours. If I had one complaint, it’s that the show could have been a longer as I was left wanting for more. Regardless, what the band did perform, they performed very well. Sebastian Bach continues his run of shows in the U.S. through July 14th, before heading overseas thereafter.
