Bruce Soord did a checkmate move when he added ta charismatic drummer Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree, King Crimson) on the band’s line-up on their previous album “Your Wilderness” that was released in 2016. It was a matter of time for Gavin to contribute to the songwriting and he did so on the new album “Dissolution”. That thing showcased that Bruce is not an egocentric songwriter and that he is open-minded when it comes to the band’s own good. After all, having a musician & songwriter like Gavin by your side is a bless and you should take advantage of it to the fullest. In any case, Bruce noted that “The Pineapple Thief is a different proposition with Gavin”.

“Dissolution” is a step forward for the band in every part. The band hasn’t changed their style though, but various elements have been added thing that has made their “new music proposition” more captivating and comprehensive than in the past. The atmospheric parts, the progressive passages, the dream pop-rock moments and the refined melodies are all featured on “Dissolution”, giving to the album a splendid music character that impresses the listener from the very first moment.

“Dissolution” is one of those albums that you never get enough of, no matter how many times you’ll listen to it. Personally, I’ve lost track after a while, but the most important of all is that I still enjoy it the same as I did the first couple of times I listened to it. It’s impossible to skip a track, as they all play a specific role on the album’s concept, not only lyrically but also musically. This album gets better with each listen and that’s something that anyone can find out themselves after a few listens. This album will surely end up in many “best of” lists for 2018!

The Pineapple Thief have been going on for about two decades now and although they have released great albums in the past, I think that “Dissolution” is probably their most inspiring and imposing album to date. If you consider yourself a music lover, then “Dissolution” must be in your album collection no matter what!
