Silence
“City” (Days)
Perris Records
2012
Silence is the melodic rock/AOR brainchild of guitarist/keyboardist/songwriter Bruno Levesque. He started this project in 1996… and after he had released two instrumental albums he decided to add some vocals to Silence at the beginning of 2000… and that’s how the band became more known in the melodic rock/AOR scene.
The band is back now after 4 years of silence… having released not 1 but 2 albums simultaneously! Well… that’s a very brave move… in truth to be told. Bruno is still cooperating with the vocalist Benjamin Venet (Jayhawkers) that also participated in the previous album “Open Road”. Benjamin has a very good & rich voice and sometimes he reminds me (especially his slightly raspy tone) of the renowned Michael Voss (Casanova, Mad Max, etc.). Honestly, he fits Bruno’s music like a glove and it’s great to hear him again. Moreover, he has co-written most the songs here… so he’s more or less a vital part of Bruno’s band.
“City” (Days) contains the more melodic & lighter tunes but with a couple of more up-tempo ones as well. Actually, we have the more AOR-ish side of Silence here… and you’ll get that as soon as you listen to: “Father”, “Footprints” (nice story), “Jenny”, “The End of Day”, “Lift Me Up” (great duet between Benjamin and a female singer), “Daydreaming” & “Waiting For Dawn (Lullaby)”. There’s also a very nice cover of Mark Spiro’s “Guardian Angel”. Tommy Denander (Radioactive, Mecca, etc) and Frederic Slama (AOR) are also participating in the album.
The album is very good and well produced… I’m sure it will quite satisfy every melodic rock/AOR fans that fancy nice hooks and wonderful tuneful songs.
