Lanfear guitarist, partnered with Atlantean Kodex’s vocalist Markus Becker in 2013 to form an old-school band that blends the aggression of old school thrash metal bands with a slightly more melodic twist that seems to work fairly well. Hauling in Jurgen Schrank (Lanfear) on drums and Alexander Palma on bass, as well Stef Binnig-Gollub on more guitars, completed the line-up… and the band set to create their debut, an album that to my ears sounds like a mix between old Antrhax and Armored Saint with both melody and aggression on high levels. Becker’s vocals aren’t bad, but probably because of his range, he’s not as agile as some “lighter” vocalists in the thrash genre tend to be, but he definitely sounds richer and better without feeling like he’s range challenged.
“Exit… Gunfire” is quite a standout track, along with the quite complex title track and “Unwanted Company” (all about private individuals being wiretapped by their governments). Really the entire album is pretty solid, although a few songs could have been a little more edgy and catchier, but as a “first” attempt, this is quite promising and lays the foundation for a lot more in the future.
