Pete Flesh is formerly a member of Maze Of Torment, Deceiver and Thrown and he did start this band as a solo project some fifteen years ago under the name “Flesh”. Releasing three albums under that moniker, the change to TPFD was felt because of a greater tendency for experimentation and in order to avoid conflict with another “earlier” Flesh named band.
The band released a debut under the new name in 2013 and the sophomore arrives some three years later. A blackened thrash-rollish breath from hell’s hot lands that is more traditional that your average black metal not all that treble too and whatever “foreign” elements it contains, feel completely accumulated and don’t dilute the heaviness or grimness, which is quite a feat in itself. For an entirely solo affair a one-man band, it sounds incredibly solid and well-made and if you are looking for something Niefelheim-ic, grim and gripping this should fit the bill, rather nicely…
