Wow, that was something! Like I had nothing better to do and spent 41+ minutes of my life listening to this album hoping that something would change for the better with each new track or it’d become at least somewhat tolerable. But it didn’t! Poor me! I wish I was on a beach drinking freddo espresso gazing at the sea…

Insense plays a kind of music that even though it is somehow hard to categorize it you can call it an amalgam of metalcore, modern metal, nu-metal, extreme & groove metal… OK throw in some djent – yet that music term is ludicrous. I haven’t dealt with them much in the past but their country of origin – Norway – had me waiting for something better away from modern shit. The sharp production is kinda good even though I’d prefer it a bit fuller.

“De:Evolution” is not a bad album in the actual term of the word but it’s an album which addresses the younger fans, those who love metalcore/djent or whatever silly wannabe “metal” grab-bag and think it is cool and very creative. I didn’t find a fine melodic line or even a decent riff… but then again this is the dinosaur talking who can’t see the “real metal shit modern (gay) evolution”…
