Frankenstein Rooster - The Nerdvrotic Sounds’ Escape

I have to give it up to Frankenstein Rooster, as far as inventive monickers go! Even their titles are “looney” and deranged and with all that in mind, their actual music, couldn’t have been anything else than too far “off” the center. An amalgam of bizarre instrumentals, ranging from funk, jazz, dance to rock/metal with soundbits from famous movies like “Young Frankenstein” and the “Star Wars” thrown in for good measure, this digital only second release, from guitarist Raffaello “Rafahel” Indri (Elvenking, Harduo) and Camillo Colleluori (Hollow Haze) is strictly for bonkers musicians and metalheads who are just too “open-minded”. While the sound is quite engaging as far as the rhythms and ideas go, it’s just a little too difficult to maintain ones interest for nearly an hour, with what’s practically an instrumental album, even with the “movie” quotes breaking up the pace a bit.

Just like their debut-album “The Mutant Tractor”, “The Nerdvrotic Sounds’ Escape” probably caters to a particular and limited audience, mainly consisting of fans of the musicians or rather demented listeners... I can’t say I didn’t enjoy some of the music or the titles (even more), or that I found any principal fault with them, but this is something that I can hardly imagine going back to.
