It’s funny how Enzo Donnarumma calls his album, “In the Name of the Father”, the most ambitious Christian metal project ever, because of the participation of guests such as Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth), Kobi Farhi (Orphaned Land), Ralph Scheepers (Primal Fear), Mark Zonder (Fates Warning, Warlord ), Gary Wehrkamp and Brian Ashland (Shadow Gallery) and Nicholas Leptos (Warlord).

Gary Wehrkamp mixed and mastered this at his “New Horizon Studios”, which recently went up in flames… while the mix is not the worse, it’s clean and defined, the overall sound and mastering are a little underwhelming. Especially the drum sound is annoyingly upfront.

The thing is that where the “guests” take over the result is much more aesthetically pleasing. Enzo’s own singing is deep an dramatic but both accented and not extremely stable as he tries to layer vocal line upon vocal line, plus the constant preaching can become a little overbearing... at times. A white metal album, that boasts a number of “guns for hire”, but ultimately fails to leave its mark.
