All this metalcore, extreme emo-core mania of our times kinda reminds me of the trend with grunge music in the early 90s. If you didn’t play grunge music back then no label was interested in your band. The same goes for all today’s talentless, unskilled & funny little bands which sell aggressiveness & extreme attitudes for nothing. If you have lots of tattoos and can scream like a donkey that has his ballz squeezed on the mic then you’ve got the job. You’re the next “falling” star. How cool is that?!Do you think that the major labels give a shit about this kind of music? Do the young fans know what they’re listening to? As long as they sell then the labels are happy… when the circle is closed then no tattoo pissed-off guy will be able to make a living and pretend to be the “rockstar” in their town. That boring trend has its days numbered and hopefully in the next years it will just be another “unsuccessful music trend” which basted our ballz for nothing.
I think the music industry should reconsider many things and change its tactics in others if the people involved there want to keep playing the game. People are getting tired of the same music formula and the same band names that get all the exposure and the advertisements all the time by the same big magz and webzines. Fund raising platforms may not the answer but they’re something for every band and musician in order to get started without having to kiss any manager or label’s ass.
PS: I’d like to welcome an old-friend of mine on Grande Rock. The PR specialist, manager, photographer & rocker Joe Dolan. I’d also like to wish him ‘lots of happiness and joy in his new life’ since he got married a few days ago!
PS2: A new category has been added on Grande Rock! It’s called “Models” and as you can comprehend, we will feature the sexy photos by a beautiful Model each month as it suggested by Chrissy Sparks at Doll House Photography.
PS3: This month’s editorial is dedicated to the exceptional singer Steve Lee, from Gotthard, who passed away so suddenly. We already miss him… May He Rest in Peace…
