Ayreon to release new studio album “The Source” on April 28th 2017

“The Source” is an exciting new chapter in the Ayreon saga, with contributions from renowned vocalists like: James LaBrie (Dream Theater), Simone Simons (Epica), Floor Jansen (Nightwish), Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian), Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia), and Russell Allen (Symphony X).

“The Source” will be released on April 28th, 2017, through Ayreon’s new label Mascot Label Group/Music Theories Recordings.

Ben Craven

Hi Ben and welcome to Grande Rock. First of all, do tell us… how and when did the idea of making music occur and why did you finally decide to go under your own name?

B: I was always interested in making music and recording. Apparently I could operate a cassette recorder before I could talk. But I was also interested in the bigger sonic picture, so not having access to an expensive studio as a kid was a bit of a bummer. The moment that all changed was when I discovered 4-track MOD files on the IBM PC in the early 1990s. Anyone remember those? Being able to control every little detail on each track using instrument samples was so much fun. I was hooked.

Ben Craven - Last Chance to Hear

For those who are not aware of Ben Craven, I should say that he’s a gifted multi-instrumentalist & composer from Australia that has been around since 2005. “Last Chance to Hear” is his latest work that is lightly inspired by the end of the music industry as we knew it, in Ben’s own words. What does that mean, huh?! Well, Ben hit the spot by explaining that “there’s never been a time when so much new music was being made by so many people and being listened to by so few people. The concept of paying for new music is now alien to a lot of the audience. Digital downloads have made physical media virtually obsolete”. Weird, sad but so friggin true.

Alarion - Waves of Destruction

I must admit that at the same time as doing this review, I was also doing one for Damian Wilson’s solo album, so imagine my surprise, when I found out he’s involved in the majority of the songs of Alarion’s debut, as well. Deja-friggin-vu!

Beardfish - European Tour 2013 announced

Last year Swedish progressive rockers Beardfish released their fantastic latest album "The Void" on InsideOut Music, and since then the band have been touring with the likes of Flying Colours, Spock's Beard and Sound of Contact in support of it. Now they have announced a run of European dates with their friends Special Providence.

Beardfish - new album out late August & Tour with Flying Colors

Only about 1 ½ years after the release of their last record "Mammoth", Beardfish are now back with a new masterpiece. "The Void" will be released on August 27th 2012 in Europe and on August 28th 2012 in the US via InsideOutMusic. It is darker, heavier and in some parts it even has a bit of a metal edge to it, while still incorporating all that Beardfish and their typical warm retro-sound stand for.
