Mesmerize - Paintropy

I do remember this band from the early 00s. I can also remember that I quite liked their album “Off Beaten Path” back then. They released another work in 2005 and then they got off my radar, till today when I found out that they are still around making music.

I can recall that this band used to play a kind of heavy/power metal music with several epic elements. I had to double check this album as I first thought that I was listening to another band. Then I realized that although they are the same guys under the same name they had nothing to do with their past. The logo has changed & their music style too. Why didn’t they change their name as well?

Tracklist:

Lingua Mortis Orchestra - Debut album in August

End of January, the LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA – founded by German heavy metallers RAGE as an orchestral side-project – made its live debut over the course of 2013’s 70.000 Tons of Metal cruise: On the high seas in the Caribbean, the 15-member band played two highly celebrated gigs in the packed “Chorus Line Theater” on board of the “Majesty Of The Seas” cruise ship.

Tankard - A Girl Called Cerveza

Tankard, return after the slight misstep that was “Vol(l)ume 14”, which was an album far more tame and less worthy than what the band had lately accustomed us with. “A Girl Called Cerveza” seems to fit the canon of the bands discography, way better. Maybe it’s the fact that the album flows, much better (like beer - haha) or that it leaves a rather pleasant aftertaste (just like beer again! haha) on the pallet.

D.A.M. - CD reissues out August 14th

Historically speaking England could be considered the birthplace of heavy metal with the likes of Black Sabbath forging a new path for heavy music. But during the 1980’s the thrash metal movement stronghold was America and UK bands like D.A.M. (alongside Xentrix, Deathwish and Onslaught) fought tooth and nail to make their impact heard from across the Atlantic. Knowingly an uphill battle, D.A.M. managed to release two impressive albums (1989’s "Human Wreckage" and 1991’s "Inside Out") during their initial years.
