If the start of the breakthrough for Bambara was the radically reimagined sound of 2018’s “Shadow on Everything” (dubbed by NPR a “western gothic opus”), then the moment it truly arrived was on the cinematically riotous noir-punk of 2020’s “Stray”. In the UK, buoyed by the enthusiasm of DJ Steve Lamacq (who called the band, “one of his favourite discoveries of the year”), the band rose sharply, with significant press support and an A-listing at Lamacq’s 6Music, immediately selling out shows across the country.

Bambara release music video for new single “Heat Lightning”

Bambara’s new album “Stray” was announced in October ahead of a February 14th, 2020, release on the venerable Brooklyn indie Wharf Cat, and the early response has made the album one of the more anticipated releases of the young year.

Founded in Athens, Georgia, by twin brothers Reid and Blaze Bateh, and bassist William Brookshire, Bambara are now based in Brooklyn, NYC and have been steadily attracting attention since the release of their 2013 debut.

HRH Punk II - Anarchy in Sheffield 2020 announce first 18 bands

HRH Punk I sold out in record time and looks to be an absolute belter, next years will go up a gear and to make it all work we have some incredible early bird deals for the next 4 days.

The first tranche of bands next year include UK Subs – one of the pioneers of UK punk – formed in London in 1976 as UK Subversives. They had hit singles such as “Stranglehold” including a classic performance on Top of the Pops featuring the ever-present frontman Charlie Harper.

Nashville Pussy - Up the Dosage

They have been described as psychobilly, southern rock, hard rock, sleaze rock and even “cowpunk”. Never actually hitting it big, but managing to gather a sizeable fan base, one thing is for sure: Nashville Pussy are here to stay. Their new album is entitled “Up the Dosage” and is filled with the row and rude sound that the band is known for. Blaine Cartwright, Nashville’s vocalist and guitarist, describes “Up the Dosage” as “our Back in Black”. I don’t know about that, but this record sure picks up where 2009’s “From Hell to Texas” left off.
