I couldn’t have guessed this newcomer’s country of origin. The truth is that you do not come across such talented bands from Slovenia every day. But let’s take things from the start. Within Silence started in 2008 by Martin Klein (vocals) and Richard Germanus (guitars) as a project. It was in 2013 when the band’s line-up completed and the year after, in 2014, they changed their name to Within Silence, just before the release of their debut album.
Within Silence have indulged in European power metal music, influenced by Helloween, Edguy, Gamma Ray, Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica and so no. The guys have fine melodies, strong musicianship and very good vocals. It’s true that “Gallery of Life” can be regarded as a well-crafted melodic power metal album on the whole. Of course the Euro power metal clichés are there too, but who can escape them? That’s the very essence of European power metal music after all. The production was done by Jan Cvercko and it’s great.
Within Silence have made a really impressing entrance into the Euro power metal scene and I hope they keep it up in the future and have lots of success. After all, the European power metal music needs new blood in order to move further from the water puddles it has fallen in the last 10-15 years or so.
