White Light Cemetery is a band that comes from Lafayette, Louisiana and they sure know how to rock. Having released their debut back in 2013, it took them around 4 years to come up with their sophomore release. Now the band is under a new label and they want to take advantage of every little thing they can… I guess the album title “Careful What You Wish For” is relevant to that. Along comes the track “Quit Work, Make Music”, which says it all. A motto that all “genuine” musicians should follow!
Musically, the band can be described as heavy southern rock/metal music with bluesy, classic rock & groovy tendencies. Just think a music amalgam of bands like: AC/DC, Clutch, Down, High On Fire, C.O.C., Orange Goblin and so on. The band’s strong point, apart from the really heavy riffs, is Shea’s raspy voice that adds that little extra to the band’s music. The production is heavy as shit and very tight. This is exactly how a band of this genre should sound like.
“Careful What You Wish For” is probably the album that will make the band more known to the fans of the genre that, for whatever reasons, didn’t get to know them a few years back when they self-released their debut album. I won’t use the word “overlooked” for White Light Cemetery, cuz they are in their prime and they have lots of time ahead of them to make it. I bet they do sound friggin awesome live on stage, so do not miss the chance to see them if they play near you. “Careful What You Wish For” is a heavy rockin’ album that will excite the fans of the genre on the whole…
