Viana is a brand new melodic rock project that was formed by the Italian guitarist Stefano Viana. Stefano has by his side Alessandro Del Vecchio (Edge Of Forever, Hardline etc.) on vocals, Francesco Marras (Revolution Road, Moonland) on guitar, Anna Portalupi (Hardline, Chasing Violets, etc.) on bass and Alessandro Mori (Midnite Sun, Kelly Keeling, Issa, etc.) on drums, Gabriele Gozzi (Rhyme, Skill In Veins, Killer Klown) on backing vocals and Pasquale India on keyboards on his homonymous debut album. Quite a line-up, don’t you think?!
Well, as I said above Viana is playing melodic rock with some hard rock & AOR influences here and there. The album is well-written and well-produced. It was produced by Stefano Viana and co-produced by Alessandro Del Vecchio. Alessandro also did the mixing & the mastering. The production is rockin’ & dynamic, as it should be for such a release.
“Viana” follows the melodic rock recipe with rockin’ guitars, catchy melodies and a nice atmosphere. Alessandro is definitely a great vocalist and I come back to this conclusion every time I listen to him singing. Stefano has delivered some fabulous tracks that every melodic rock fan out there should listen to. “Viana” is a really nice debut by a guitarist that has much more to offer in the next years. Maybe if Viana becomes a “real” band, things will be even better… just a thought.
