Spiralism is a Finnish band, that has existed for a mere four years and perform in a heavy, doomy, psychedelic style, that’s not too easy to categorize, but is predominantly characterized, by fuzzy riffs, and a hypnotic atmosphere. Sometimes they flirt with heavier forms, like on the eleven minute “Weighing of the Heart” and “Passages of Nuit”, chiefly because of the use of harsh vocals while at most other times, they tend to be more ambient and rock/doom oriented, but in a loose, post-apocalyptic way.

They allege to be inspired on this album by the ‘Chakras’, the seven ‘energy centres’ of the human being and try to elude that they’ve been working on the album for seven years and that the album contains seven songs as well. I dunno if any of that holds true, but guys, Steve Vai, has beaten you to it, with “The 7th Song” so…

For people willing to explore a mildly atmospheric/doom/psych side of things, the album could be somewhat recommended, but on the whole, it holds nothing new or terribly exciting, imho.
