Sorrowful Angels
Remedie
Rock Of Angels Records
2015
Sorrowful Angels is a Greek band that has been around for some 15 years (with a 6 year hiatus when their first company BLR went bankrupt) so their “proper” debut didn’t come out until 2009. They have gone through many line-up changes (I sort of doubt if any of their original members is still in the band) and have released a couple of more albums.
“Remedie” their third effort and it comes out of newly founded Rock Of Angels Records (aka ROAR). It seems to attempt to cling onto modern rock while applying an overall “gothic” identity to its rather enjoyable tunes but via a metal prism. (While if memory serves me correctly because I was there when they debuted on the first Chania Rock Festival ages ago, they were a female laden melodic death band or something of that sort)…
Their compositions are not bad, but a “clinical” production and their singer’s horribly accented delivery seem quite detrimental factors that make the enjoyment of the tunes quite hard. Sorry… but maybe with a different singer and a production that doesn’t sound like a well mastered demo, I’d have been more lenient…
