Fourth studio-work for Skydancer which are more or less Dany Soengas’ project. You see, everything here has been done by Dany himself. The recordings, the production, the songwriting… everything. Even though Dany does have a live line-up, he prefers to work alone in the studio. On the other hand, I believe that a group work in the studio could achieve better results at long last. For instance, the drum-machine and especially the drum-machine breaks & the double bass are unbearable, at least for me. A real drummer (which exists) was more than necessary.

Skydancer (a.k.a. Dany) mixes traditional metal with extreme/death metal elements. The strong parts here are the wonderful & melodic guitars that dominate the whole album and the atmospheric keys. Then again the ordinary death metal vox, the drum-machine and the “underground”, but good, production take things back to the mid/late 90s. Strangely enough the album features 8 songs (with 2 small instrumental themes) and lasts about 32 minutes. That ain’t a full-length album, at least in my book. Furthermore, a point of interest for those who fancy “weird things” is the Galician lyrics, myths & themes used on the album. Definitely “Land of the Grim” is an OK work in general… but it does miss that something more to make it to the next level…
