SixStingNoise started out in 2010 as a one man’s band. In 2012, they became an actual band and in 2013 it was time to release their second album called “Likewise”. The album is a clear case of post-grunge, hard/heavy rock like Hinder and Breaking Benjamin.

With a name like Sixstring Noise it is implied that we are dealing with a band mostly based on guitars. That is more or less  the case here. While the lead guitar does come first in the mixing of every song, don’t expect any long and elaborate guitar solos that take up half the song. To be exact: imagine a Zakk Wylde band with half the guitar solos; that’s SixStringNoise.

“Likewise” contains 11 songs that sound good, but not great. Apart from “Everybody’s Gonna Turn Around” (which is the best song here) the rest of the songs all start powerfully, but run out of steam along the way. Sooner or later they tend to get a bit repetitive and therefore a bit dull.

I have to say that there are times when it sounds like the album was recorded in a hurry. What I mean is that, even from the first listen, I spotted a few changes in the tempo or the pitch which were a bit off. Something that, I guess, would not have happened if they had been rehearsed more and had been re-recorded.

All in all, if you are a hard/heavy rock fan you will enjoy “Likewise”, but I don’t think that it will ever be one of your favorite albums.
