Shawn James & The Shapeshifters
The Gospel According to Shawn James & The Shapeshifters
Independent Release
2015
Somewhere out of Arkansas (Arkansaaaawww) come Shawn James & The Shapeshifters a pretty deranged, bunch of people, a quintet more specifically, that allegedly changes their overall vibe for each release and who had several of them in the past couple of years... mostly EPs... “The Wolf” (13), “The Bear” (mid-13), “The Hawk” (14) and a covers album recorded live in mid-2014. They are mixing both the southern, swampy rock and juggy rock with folk and bluesy shit, while criss-crossing the world, gigging...
There’s not “normality” with these guys, as one song might be fast and crazy and the next one mournful, slow and dixxxie with bloody fiddles amongst the chicken picking… which can also turn pretty epic ie (the crescendo of “just because”) go figure :P
People that like Volbeat, Texas Hippy Coalition, the good ole Cash, Ghost Town etc., might enjoy em... Proceed with relative caution… or when quite stoned :D I got to give it to them that they sound quite authentic in what they do, although, I cannot say, it’s my particular brand of Bourbon :D (you were expecting me to say cup of tea, motherfuckers, eh?!)…
