In the press release that accompanied this album Seneron is stated to be “tearing up expectations, rewriting the template for punk, infusing grunge and creating uncompromising rock‘n’roll”. I won’t even go into analysing how grunge was basically a transformation of punk; I’ll just say all these above are just big words which in no way accurately describe the mediocrity that “Parasites and Poets” is.

Seneron seems to be the poor man’s Foo Fighters. That’s the best way I can describe their sound. While none of their tracks directly resembles any Foo Fighters’ ones, they all sound like they belong to a compilation of Foo Fighters b-sides. I say b-sides, because none of the 8 tracks in “Parasites and Poets” is what you could call “great”. They’re all OK, I guess, but not great. If I was tasked to pick the song which should be released as a single, I would be at a loss. I can only guess that’s what happened with the actual guy who had to do this, because he or she picked “Don’t Cave In”, in other words the CDs first track.

What can I say? It’s not a bad album, it’s fine. But we all know, “fine” is almost never fine.
