Almost 8 years after their founding, the release of four EPs and several tours around the US & Canada, it was about time for Prosevere to come up with their debut album! The majority of bands prefer to do things backwards but these modern hard rockers from Memphis did it their way and they made an impression with “Hurts Like Hell”!

At first, judging by the cover artwork, I thought this was a black metal band! I couldn’t have been more wrong… just like the single “I was Wrong” declares. As soon as I listened to it I knew that this album was gonna be truly enjoyable and this time I was right! The band’s music is influenced by the contemporary sound of the late 90s early 00s hard rock, the post-grunge and the alternative rock genres. Their major characteristic is that the heavy, melodic and modern parts are brilliantly blended together. The production is powerful and contemporary. The album was done over quite a length of time with producer J. Hall in Nashville, TN. Several parts of it were engineered in different studios but the final outcome is cohesive and tight.

Apart from the catchy single “I was Wrong”, tracks like: “Hurts Like Hell”, “One More Thing”, “Not Worth Saving”, “Glory” & “Burn the City” will also gratify those who are fond of hard rock music with a modern twist and fine melodies. The sentimental power-ballad “Can’t Let Go”, which has a wonderful orchestration, is surely a winner! Hence, what do we have here? A newcomer, (not exactly that new!) after a lot of hard work and personal sacrifices, presents a well-crafted debut album after 8 years of existence. Overall, “Hurts Like Hell” is a gratifying album and I’m quite sure that this band has a lot more to give us in the next years…
