One Desire is a Finnish newcomer, which was formed in 2012 by drummer Ossi Sivula. Later, in 2104, he met producer, guitarist and songwriter Jimmy Westerlund (Negative, Sturm Und Drang, Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, Pitbull etc.) that was hired to produce some songs. Lead singer André Linman (Sturm und Drang) joined the band right after, after Jimmy’s suggestion. Finally, Jimmy was asked by both Ossi and André to join One Desire as a permanent member and so he did in 2016. After a while, bass player Jonas Kuhlberg (Paul Di’Anno, Cain’s Offering, MyGrain) joined the band as well.
Musically, One Desire blends melodic rock, hard rock, AOR and pop-rock music. Their sound is contemporary and polished. Bands like Brother Firetribe, Eclipse, H.E.A.T and Work Of Art (among others) entered my head while I was listening to the album. The musicianship is strong and the tracks are well-written on the whole. It’s obvious that the guys have worked on every detail & thoroughly on their debut. The production is dynamic and full. The album was mixed and produced by Jimmy Westerlund as Sea Road Studio, Sipoo Finland and Black Ness Studio, Närpiö Finland and mastered by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers, Hlsinki, Finland. Dani Strömbäck provided the piano & keyboards for the debut.
It’s true that One Desire’s homonymous debut album has several fine tracks like “Hurt”, “Turn Back Time”, “Falling Apart”, “Whenever I’m Dreaming”, “Do You Believe”, “Buried Alive” and “This Is Where the Heartbreak Begins” (an amazing emotional ballad) that will gratify most of the fans of the genre. One Desire made quite an impressive entry on the scene with their self-titled debut and I’m curious to see where they will go from here. They’ve got what it takes to go further, but only time will tell…
