New album on the line for the Swedish extreme metalers Meshuggah. I have never understood how these guys have become so successful and most importantly… why people consider them so special, technical and progressive musically something that’s rather erroneous and deceptive. Moreover, does the term djent (yeap the explanation is on wiki) offer anything new to music? Why should we use this inane term that has no musical identity at all? Anyone can describe his music in his own words but why should we endorse it later… especially if that description/term is absurd?!

Thus, what they are offering here? Well not to be sardonic they offer nothing no matter which side you look at it from. Obsolete, monotonous, repetitive, uninspired, uninteresting music with extreme vocals and riffs that you wish they’d change once in a while, but they don’t! How many riffs does the whole album actually have? No, I’m not kidding at all. The monotony here is enough to make you wanna smash everything you see in front of you. You just sit there wishing for a change, but nothing happens and the minutes are passing so damn painfully.

There are some noises which might have been guitar solos and a very strong production. Do you really think that this is experimental, progressive or technical music? Then you’ve probably got more serious problems than just distinguishing noises from music. This has no sentiment, no atmosphere, no soul, no ideas, no imagination, no inspiration… nothing. You think that this is brutal and extreme? Try out the new Soulfly… if you wanna keep it in, 2012, cuz… if we go back then they will totally disappear from the map of brutality and extremeness. This is mostly wannabe extreme, brutal & tedious music for teenagers…

Why is it being released by a label? Why are people gonna get it? Why? Aren’t there hundreds other great bands that have no support at all but still make great music? What the f@ck is wrong with music industry today? What’s wrong with people blindly supporting shitty bands and think they like their music, which bores them after a while? I’m thinking of making an extra category of the shittiest album of the week, not of the month for the awful albums nowadays are far more than the good ones and lamentably, the great ones are so hard to find. The last song of the album “The Last Vigil” is supposed to sound atmospheric with the same 2-3 chords and the repeated synth sound behind it for almost 4.30 minutes… the kids in my neighborhood that play in their garage, can create more atmospheric music with the keyboard and the cans they have, instead of drums and they can surely play more complex music than the one you will find in this intolerable album! Another candidate for the worst album of the year and the list keeps getting bigger and bigger. Honestly, they couldn’t find a better word to describe this album than “Koloss”… with the Greek meaning of the word I mean… an absolutely great match for it!
