Two years after “Th1rt3en” an album that was more or less dismissed, as more or less an obligation fulfillment and the leftovers of “Endgame” a so and so album anyway,  never having really released a bona fide album ever since back in the days of “Youthanasia” and just excusing themselves to the fans and to the press by saying that they just wanted to get out of a deal that had gone terribly bad with a rather troubled “Roadrunner Records” that had in recent years and with a number of high profile artists and high profile staff jumping ship or switching camp, Megadeth Return with Supercollider on Universal and Mustaine’s own Tradecraft imprint. Well, that "change" doesn't seem to have helped by one “iota”. The “sold out “$uck-c0ckin-father-mucker journalists” might kiss a$$ as much as they want and praise this piece of piss poor crap as they want, but Super collider is simply put, Megadeth’s second worse album after Risk. It’s that simple. It’s pretty boring and the song writing is blunt. There, I've said it.

“Kingmaker” is the second “single” released digitally from the album and it’s a really blatant rip off of, Black Sabbath’s “Children Of The Grave”, just a tad sped up as if no one’d notice, other than that it’s played without too much conviction. Mustaine sounds rather flat and the song ends up sounding a bit like Motopsycho from “The World Needs a Hero” (ie… quiet a mess...)

“Super Collider” is the album’s namesake and one of the biggest of Megadeth/Megadave’s clusterfuck’s in history. It’s some hickey hilly-billy happy sounding rock ‘n roll radio tune, that could have been pulled from ZZtop’s worst nightmare... with Musty singing over it... (Someone just shoot me!)

Oh and it just gets worse on this $hit barrage – “Burn!” surely begins in a promising enough way, with some cool guitar playing, but as soon as Mustaine hits the chorus…”Burn, Baby Burn! Cause I’m just so Good!?” (WTF?!) Admittedly it’s a funky rhythm, but this is MEGADETH for fucks sake, not Boyzone! “Fire” rhyming with “burning desire”???! Pulllleeeeez! Thumbs DOWN!!! Burn DAVEY BURN!

“Built for War” is a silly, rhythmical, melodic piece which goes, BFW – What do you think your fists are for… WOW.... I mean, the lyrical depth of the “NEW” Megadeth, of the porn again Christian "Musty", is really, “killing me”. At least, it’s the first, semi audible, worth listening and not skipping song on the album. Hurrah !

“Off the Edge” is a bit of a biting syncopated rocker that’s not too bad, but again, it's A ROCKER. WHERE’s THE METAL?!!!! This is way too poofy!? There’s a kind of decent solo in the middle and I suppose it’s another OK tune for the album, but it’s not something to really win the band accolades!

“Dance in the Rain” (featuring David Draiman from Disturbed and Device) tries to make MEGADETH – “TRENDY”. You see, everyone these days is trying to do the obvious “nu-metal” collaboration “we have this one” – “Five Finger Death Punch got Rob Halford” and “Vobeat got King Diamond”... well the problem is that most of "these" songs are not really "metal". They’re not really bad, but they’re not good either. This is probably, one of the better songs on the album – but it's too “NU” flavored for Megadeth... so UGH, I’m kinda disgusted too… for me this is MEGADETH attempting to sell out, just in case, "IT WORKS!"

“The Beginning of Sorrow”, sees the troika of Mustaine, Ellefson, Broderick, forging another tune just like in the case of “Built...” with again decent results… but just because a song's pleasant to the ear still that’s not some huge success, as the tune is quite repetitive and plain.

“The Blackest Crow” manages to sink the band to new lows... by introducing, BANJO! YEAY!!!!!!! YIHAAAAWWWWW!!! Actually, it’s not as bad, as it sounds, it might be the only song, that’s really pretty GOOD! Or maybe not!

“Forget to Remember” (featuring David Draiman again) is a mid-tempo rather stagnant rock ‘n’ metal hybrid featuring the Disturbed, frontman, but his role here is not as protagonistical as on “dancing”, as he seems to be following Mustaine's Lead's. There’s a rather melodic passage on the song, but still, it’s a rather, too alternative flavored tune for Megadeth... If I managed to decipher the lyrics correctly then it must be about the "alzheimer" disease or something like that ?!

“Don’t Turn Your Back...” sounds more like “IT”, like the band should have sounded, for the albums entirety, but still doesn’t manage to sound “fully metal” on this “half baked” album. The song passes but doesn’t touch, a case of too little too late in the game... end game...

There’s ultimately a rather true to the original cover of “Cold Sweat” by Thin Lizzy with Mustaine, managing to do a rather convincing job on the vocals too. Thank god that while Phil was a kick ass bassist and a badass character he wasn’t exactly a killer vocalist as far as “range” was concerned. lol.

Well. Any way you slice it or you dice it “Super Collider” is a disappointment of the highest order on almost every level. The production’s the only thing that’s not bad about it, but hey that’s no triumph! Even the cover had people calling it Megatrance! (Apparently – there’s a bigger artwork, on some Universal advertisement – and possibly some special edition (?) featuring a robotic VIC with the super collider on his chest powering him up. (but even that artwork looks kinda lame) When you ain’t got good songs, good players are not going to help you and when most of the songs, credit you as the sole writer, well we know who’s to blame! Get a producer, that will actually stand up to you and throw your crappy songs to the dumpster, get a tenor guy to sing your songs properly and you could do – backing vocals and keep the band as it is, or get back, it’s classic line up! It will rock and make MEGADETH huge again, oh and write about the world including America going to HELL! (in a hand basket – soon!) Because the economy is unlikely to hold together the way “all these guys” in DC and over here are running ship!

But I dunno which ship will sink first Mega-D, the one you’re on, or the one we’re on, or just if the sea will burst in flames anyway! Hehe! Oh yeah, burn Davey BURN, cause this baby, SUCKED! Really BAD! And you deserve a good ’ol roasting!
