God’s n Gun’s got a pretty strong reaction driven by a pretty strong single and a pretty hard push through the states with a really impressive trek of dates trailblazing through the North n’ the South an’ the East an’ the West. The band too it’s time, released a live album, toured the world and toured it some more and some years later, well 3 actually, they decided to follow it up, with yet another one.

Having to replace yet another fallen member along the way, the band endured one more tragedy, a theme not uncommon in their long history. The band now’s left with a sole original member with all other former members either having pushed out or deceased in favor of newer ones that have however been with the band for a while. All of the band’s alumni, are southern souls and while this ain’t the real “LS” it does embody the spirit of the original band rather well and carry it on in the new millennium rather well, writing songs about things that the common working class folk (or even the freshly unemployed now-a-days), the world over could associate with, not only the US-Southerners! It ain’t a disgrace and the guitar driven southern, whiskey soaked rock, ain’t nothing to be ashamed of or to be apologetic about! If you don’t like it don’t dance to it, get outta here! Fast!

Boasting a warm and immaculate production courtesy of Bob Marlette the album sounds, just as it should. Kicking it off with the very strong and firing on all six titlesong, that name checks the band’s older hit “Traveling Man”, things mellow down considerably just in time for the “drift-away” and almost “dream-like” “One Day at a Time”. Fun-“fu#$in”tastic!

Dunno, exactly to what seed, “Homegrown” refers to, but I guess it ain’t the devil’s own necessarily! It could as well be a euphemism for a lady that knows her tryx!

“Ready to Fly” stars intimately with some nice piano and builds into this huge ballad power ballad.

“Mississippi Blood” boogies like a mooooooffffoooooo and it’s full of woooo” “oooohhhooohhh’ts! It effin’ positively rawks!

“Good Teacher” also rocks hard as well, albeit in a slight different way, a more rock n roll strut, being evident here. It’s said that that Johnny 5, guitar boy is involved as he were in the previous one I guess and he could be involved here too (but since I got this as a pre-release I can’t tell you much not until I get this as a hard copy – which I ‘m deffo getting ASAP!).

“Something To Live For” is a sort of hurt and soulful, prayer of a song – a bit of a gospel influenced piece with lots of bluesy undertones.

“Life’s Twisted” is quite of a left-field song, considering the previous ones, as it’s decidedly more modern sounding, with a shorter riff and some quite more slid off stuff. It’s nifty! I like it. Like the message too, cause it’s too REAL!
Just like “Nothing Comes Easy” where the lyrics hit as hard as reality...

“Honey Hole” is ahem a poetic euphemism, about showing your lady a good time! Damn it! Hahaha, they make it sound so innocently, funny, fun, DAMN! Running through a corn field in the summer, will never again feel innocent, after hearing this song!

“Start Living Life Again” I guess has some dobro? If I’m not mistaken? Talking about a beautiful acoustic ballad, only steel acoustics and a gypsy tambourine and a whiskey soaked talking about family values and how, one needs to get oneself straight, if they have been a funkup, at some time in life, by mending themselves and picking up the pieces, instead of keeping acting like douche-bags.

“Poor Man’s Dream” is a feel good tune, about making choices and taking chances and seeing where the road takes you.

“Do it Right” is a Rock n’ Roller with horns and honky tonk... you know, what I mean... and it’s damn good!

“Sad Song” is a sad and quite emotional song about a relationship reaching the end.

Finally “Low Down Dirty” is a damn fine “rocker” well worth the extra, price, the “special edition” that contains the extra last 4 song, might demand, but at some point the damn companies, need to stop these BS tactics, trying to milk of the “working class”. Us the overworked and underpaid.

“F”, you Road “effing” runner for that, I hope Wile E. Coyote or somebody else really manages to stomp all over you and your pussy core bands one of these days. In the meantime, I can’t however help but to recommend that people pick up this fine album, actually that they run out and get it.
