Shall we have a small quiz? What kind of music does a new band from Italy play? You’ve got it! 90% of their productions is this kind of music! Heavy/power metal! Hooray! Lunar Explosion took shape in 2010 and now three years later they are ready to hit the stores.

To be more precise, the guys play heavy/power metal music with several neoclassical elements. They have various 80s influences but there are several things that prevent this album from going any further. I can hardly characterize it as a professional work. Had this been a demo or an EP, I would be OK. But it is a full-length album by a label which is very careful about its releases. Hmm, I’m kinda confused here.

First of all, is this an actual drummer that we hear on the album? For if it is then congrats to whoever made him sound like an irritating drum-machine. If it’s not… then they should get a real drummer! Secondly, the production is weak. Mattia Stancioiu (ex-Labyrinth, ex-Vision Divine, Screaming Shadows) has done the mixing. I’m not very satisfied either. Too bad he put his name on that. Thirdly, the singer, probably due to his enthusiasm, is off key at times. Regrettably, there’s nothing promising about Lunar Explosion. They need to fix their songwriting, which is totally bland and all the above-mentioned things as well. They’ve got a long way ahead of them & they need to work very hard…
