Lost Souls Carnival - Collection of Carefully Selected

Lost Souls Carnival are a bunch of Belgians, that perform a quite boring modernized version of 60s rock, without much rolling involved. Lazy, greasy, minimal songs, wallowing in resigned melancholy, they sound like a bad mix of the 90s Nirvana think bad grungy-garage rock, with a singer than sounds like a caricature of Jim Morrison. They mention bands like Graveyard or The Black Keys, as influences – which shows their desire to become the next hipster phenomenon. The occasional use of harmonica, as a bit of a gimmick, doesn’t show – delta blues influence, it shows, hypocritical pretentiousness. Seriously, I feel like I lost half an hour from my life and as I grow older, that sort of is unacceptable.
