Lord Agheros
Nothing at All
My Kingdom Music
2016
With a name like that, I was half expecting almost some goth-doom, black metal sort of thing… so imagine my surprise when a very soft, often piano based, largely acoustic but sometimes heavier sort of album, developed in front of my eyes in a very cinematic way.
Obviously very experimental in it’s scope and mingling gothic metal, ambient, post-industrial, but also elements of classical music with it’s very Satie-esque piano melodies, “Nothing at all” will quite probably appeal to fans of bands like Ulver and Ihsahn. It’s hard and quite impossible to dissect this album into favorite tracks etc., but the soothing “Lake Water”, in which Federica “Lenore” Catalano from Lenores Fingers guests, is a real highlight and the whole album trippy and all enveloping seems to work to great effect, without sounding pretentious, like a lot of these “experimental” albums tend to.
