Little River Band needs no special introduction, as more or less, everyone who deals with rock music has heard a couple of songs of theirs on the radio, on TV, at a party or somewhere else. Do not bypass the fact that their worldwide album sales are about 30 million! The big breakthrough in the late 70s got ‘em both fame & fortune. Their AOR, soft-rock, pop-rock easy-listening music style, influenced by Eagles & Fleetwood Mac is still holding up to this day, even though those glorious days have long gone. Now, they’re back after almost a decade with a new studio album… so some may wonder… what extra or new do they have to offer?

Well, this is the part where the not so good news burst in. Little River Band has nothing new to offer, neither do they need to… as they do not have anything to prove anymore. That’s the whole deal and that’s what they’ve got to offer. Another “weird” thing is that this “reunion” album features no original members at all. Hence, a few may wonder how is today’s LRB? Huh, the music style is still the same, they still play well and their melodies are OK at large. The production is smooth and clear as well.

“Cuts Like a Diamond” is OK, although I does become a bit predictable and somewhat monotonous at times, but it ain’t a bad album at all. It has a couple of those radio-friendly tunes of “another time and place” which are hard to appeal to the younger fans that much today. The older ones will appreciate their effort more, I think…
