Lionheart
Love Don’t Live Here
BDHW Records
2016
This is the new Lionheart album almost 4 years after “Undisputed”. For those who are not familiar with the band, Lioheart is a California based hardcore-punk band which started in 2004 and has released 4 full-length albums to date, including the new one.
Nothing has really changed in this kind of music. More or less every hardcore band sounds alike. Heavy, aggressive music with angry lyrics and a pissed off attitude. It’s OK if you’re a fan of the specific genre. If you’re not, then that album ain’t gonna change your mind.
The album is heavy & powerful, even though the production sounds somewhat “hollow” and the guitars are a bit “buried” in the mix. I do not know if they’ve done it intentionally but if they did so, to be more “in-your-face” and “full-on”, they chose wrong. It’s 2016 and a band must have the best sound it can. Not that the production is bad or something but if I compare it to the cleaner and heavier productions, it leaves a lot to be desired. Also, note that such albums lack music variety. Anyhow, if you like this kind of stuff, do listen to a couple of tracks and make up your own mind…
