Klone
Here Comes the Sun
Klonosphere/Pelagic Records
2015
Klone is a French band which took shape in 1995 and has musically progressed over the years since their early days. What I liked about their new studio album “Here Comes the Sun” is that the opener track “Immersion” reminded me of Anathema’s latest era. It’s atmospheric, gloomy and a bit melancholic at places. That thing made me listen to the whole album more eagerly. Unluckily, the album loses its focus at some point.
“Here Comes the Sun” is a musically focused album. The band knows exactly where it wanna go. They have been influenced by the contemporary atmospheric, dark, smooth, ambient and somewhat melancholic style of Anathema (mostly), Katatonia, Porcupine Tree, Gazpacho and The Pineapple Thief among others. The production is great and has been bone by the band itself along with their longtime co-producer Francis Castes.
I think that Klone have finally found the music style which fits them the best. I know that they tend to change every so often so surely their old-time fans will again be surprised by their new album. They can totally work on their new music style more, “adopt it 100%” and finally add more personal elements to it next time. They do know how, they have the way to do it and they can easily gain more popularity from the fans of the specific genre especially now that most of the “old” bands have gone astray…
