Kaisas is basically one guy called Babis Kaisas. He is a songwriter, a guitarist and a bassist (that’s how it’s stated in the press release). “Degitalize” is Kaisas’ second album in which he collaborated with vocalist Mark Evans (Heavens Edge) and drummer Allen Brunelle (Mystic Force, Raughhousen). There are 12 songs in this album all of which revolve around a glam/sleaze/hard rock sound.

My grandfather once told me “if you don’t have anything good to say, it’s better for you not to say anything at all”. There’s no way for me not to say anything, since I have to write this review, so I’ll do the next best thing I can do: I won’t say much.

So, in a nutshell: “Degitalize” is not a bad record per se, it’s just poor. Each and every one of the songs is just plain boring. The guitar riffs are predictable, the vocals are mediocre at best, the lyrics are borderline ridiculous, the hooks are non-existent and the guitar solos are generic. But the worst thing of all is the production sound which is flat and extremely tedious.

The press release mentions that the CD contains an extra digital track, a cover of Def Leppard's “Hysteria”. I’m glad the copy I received didn’t contain that one, because I doubt that I ever want to hear it (judging from what they did to Cutting Crew’s “(I Just) Died In Your Arms”.
