I really didn’t know what to expect from these Italian guys when I put the CD in my CD-player to give it a spin. For a moment I was confused ‘cause I thought that this was an American hard rock band and it was hard to believe that those guys were from Italy. There are not many bands in Italy that play the way those guys are playing and remain professional at the same time. Well enough with the introductions… Hungryheart is a European band that could easily have been born in the US… they are mainly influenced by the American hard rock scene and from bands like: Def Leppard, Danger Danger, Adriangale, Whitesnake etc.
This album has some very good rockers & ballads like: “Stealing the Night”, “River of Soul”, “Hang on to Me Tonight”, “Innocent Tears”, “Breath Away”, “It Takes Two”… and in general, I was satisfied with the band’s first effort. I would prefer the production to have been more dynamic but time is on their side to evolve and fix all these little problems they have. Another memorable fact is that the singer has a very good accent (except for the raspy voice) which does not remind at all of other Italian singers that are trying hard to sound like Americans. “Hungryheart” is a nice debut album and I’m sure that the guys can do a lot better than this.
