Since 2010, when they changed their name from Rhino to Horn Of The Rhino, this Spanish trio has released 4 studio albums. Their latest endeavor finds them in a more death/sludgy mood… and that’s the exact slight change on their sound regarding their previous releases.

Personally, I’m not into this heavy, doom, sludge “extreme” metal thing. I find this kind of music kinda boring, repetitive and uninspired at long last, but that’s my own perspective. I know that this band, as other bands of this genre, has thousands of fans who fancy this kind of music. So all I can say is to try (and I’m sure that’s all we do nowadays) before you proceed.

Probably, if they could only stick to the doom, stoner, heavy rock & sludge style and get rid of the thrash, death and extreme elements, which do not do them any good, they could go even further. The singer, Jaier, has a fine “stoner” voice but when he starts screaming the whole good impression is vanished right away. For instance, listen to “Deliverance Prayer” and then to “Exvenhstench” and draw your own conclusions.

In general, “Summoning Deliverance” is a decent album which only addresses the fans of this genre and none else. Pay attention to that little detail cuz you may find yourself in a hard spot afterwards…
