Hell’s Domain are a Danish quintet comprising of members of Hatesphere and Artillery that enjoy the early Bay Area style with a bit more speed and a little more “European” dirt, thrown in the mix. While they have been around for almost half a dozen of years now, they only debuted this year with their eponymous effort coming out on Punishment 18 records.

From the word go, with “100 Days in Hell” these guys hit the pedal and floor it, and keep things pretty relentless. There’s as aforementioned a bit of a European “aura” – well, since they are Scandi’s after all mainly in the way they sound, but both the production and the speeds, lean a bit to the “Bay Area” style and mannerisms. I was thinking that I was listening to something that was caught between mid-era Anthrax and I suppose had hints of Artillery and some German bands early works as well... in songs like “In the Trenches” or “Dead Civilization”... there are explorations of more progressive tenancies in more involved songs like “Wall’s Come Tumbling Down”, “Hangman’s Fracture” & “As Good as Dead” but ultimately things get back into a crazy flurry of notes and headbanging pandemonium for the grand finale with the awesome “A Good Day to Die” and a pretty sweet cover on fellow Danes Crionic’s pretty spectacular “Sneaking Disease” that they do a light job of!

All in all,Hell’s Domain is an honest and good thrash album without many distractions and useless bells and whistles. And I guess that should be enough for most people...
