Gabriel And The Apocalypse
The Ghost Parade
Pavement Entertainment
2016
Gabriel And The Apocalypse hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota and was formed by singer & songwriter Lindy Gabriel. The band’s music is an amalgam of industrial rock/metal & alternative rock/metal along with electro-industrial, nu-metal and horror metal elements. I do think that bands/artists like Marilyn Manson, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle, American Head Charge, Rob Zombie & Skinny Puppy will give you an idea of the music that GATA is fond of.
Even though I’m not into industrial music, I can say that I did fancy (more) the band’s electro & mid-tempo atmospheric moments (“Beauty Under Glass”, “Mazarine”, “Colour of Winter” & “Behind the Sun” – where Lindy’s performance reminded me of Amy Lee too). Surely, those who are into this kind of music and like the above-mentioned bands will find “The Ghost Parade” quite interesting. You see the band is good at blending various genres together and keeping the industrial character of their music at long last. Lindy fits perfectly, both musically & scenically, this kind of music.
Overall, “The Ghost Parade” is a well-made album by a rather fresh & new act which now makes its major step into the scene. You see this is only their sophomore release, so be sure that there’s a lot more to come from their camp. Those who fancy electro industrial metal music with female vocals had better try them out and they won’t be disappointed. In any case, all the new bands need the support from the fans of the genre they serve, especially when they are good at what they do…
