Some people like living in the past. They are so attached to it that they cannot get over the fact that’s gone and it’s never coming back. The same goes for some artists and bands that adore the music of the past – especially the 70s & 80s era. Fogg is a fairly new band, this is their sophomore release, but they do fancy the 70s rock music and wanna be part of the “retro rock” movement of our time.
They worship acts like Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Hawkwind, Captain Beyond, Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin and so on. Their music style has a fairly 70s sound and it blends all the elements the abovementioned bands introduced almost 40+ years ago. These young guys wish they had lived in the 70s but they didn’t! They also haven’t seen the majority of their music idols live on stage and that’s a pity.
Anyhow, Fogg are not bad at what they do. Even though that 70s rock, psychedelic, heavy, fuzzy etc. movement has been overloaded and overdone already, I do think that the die-hard fans of this style will find something fine in Fogg. Certainly, it takes time and effort to get rid of their rather predictable music themes and their too noticeable influences but they do need a chance to showcase whether they can do it or they will just be another band in the “pile of the 70s retro movement” that’s waiting that trend to be over anytime soon…
