Evershine
Renewal
Bakerteam Records
2012
Seeing a power metal band from Italy is like bumping into a hooker in Charlie’s apartment… these things do not quite happen too often, can’t you tell? Evershine is another power metal newcomer from Italy which, after the release of two demos, finally managed to deliver its debut album. A year later the band signed with Bakerteam Records and now the album is being re-offered… without anything extra… it just has a way better distribution and promotion than before.
Without trying to escape the classic power metal formula at all … the same repetitive power metal clichés… the fast solos, the powerful rhythm section, the “glorious” atmosphere… they came up with another unoriginal & overdone power metal work. Oh, Lord it feels like I’m watching the same movie again and again with different actors each time. Of course, to be fair, the guys have also added a few AOR (I would call them cheesy rock by the way) & progressive elements here and there… without making the final result any better. Other than that, the production is a bit weak… this kind of music needs a heavier and punchier sound overall.
This may be a debut but it does not leave any good impressions in the end… the band needs to update its sound, its songwriting and come up with a more cohesive follow-up release… even the power metal freaks won’t be pleased, that much, at long last…
