Almost 5 years have passed since the band’s previous album, “Asylum”. Disturbed took their time, cleared off their heads and came back with “Immortalized”. So what has changed? Did this long hiatus work for the band’s own benefit? Well, no… not at all. I almost fell asleep (was I actually awake?!) while listening to the album.

Nothing has changed really. The guys use the same songwriting formula on each track. The final outcome is repetitive, tedious and tiresome. The wannabe heaviness of the band sounds a bit cheesy at places and rather “forced”. The alternative modern (pop) metal is not very popular as it used to be and it’s even worse if you have actually run out of ideas. The production is great, powerful & modern… but there’s nothing more than that. Ohh, I almost forgot. The cover on “Sound of Silence” is utterly insipid… it’s an insult to the original track. What a shame!

I do believe that’s a hard task for someone to listen to the whole album – especially without taking any breaks in the meantime. “Immortalized” is rather uninspired, monotonous and boring on the whole. Even the band’s loyal fans won’t be satisfied with this album let alone the other ones! But why should the band care? The album sold almost 98,000 copies in its first week… so it is already “commercially successful”. It seems that some fans are used to musical poorness and they do enjoy it at long last! So be it! Do not waste your valuable time on this one… better go out fishing!
