Diabulus In Musica - The Wanderer

Diabulus In Musica are coming from Spain… a country which is mostly known for the heavy/power metal & hard rock acts it has had throughout the years. The case here is totally different. Having released their debut in 2010… they are trying to make a breakthrough in the symphonic/gothic metal scene with their second album now.

“The Wanderer” is a quite ambitious work… the band has added many gothic and death/extreme metal elements to its symphonic metal music … and some very beautiful choirs that make the album’s atmosphere more imposing in the end. The song arrangements are very good as well as the performances, and the production is heavy and very powerful.

The band is rather influenced by Epica, Nightwish, Theater of Tragedy and Within Temptation among others… while they’re trying to form their own personality musically. They do have a long way to go… cuz’ things are not so easy in this genre or in music in general. They need to bring their musical personality forward and focus more on the songwriting part. I still cannot get why lately, most of the labels are choosing to promote a band with videos for songs that are fairly average and give a wrong impression for the album. The same thing here with “Sceneries of Hope”… I believe they should have chosen another song to do a video for.
