Nothin’ better than a midweek show when you got the hardcore band Defeater from Massachusetts USA headlining it, along with supporting bands Caspian, More Than Life and Goodtime Boys which were in Manchester Sound Cloud.
Caspian, Goodtime Boys and More Than Life performed first on the night and the venue was packed out, stage presence and sound were good and bands were lively, the crowd however, were very slow to get going at first, whispering applause for a while until the bands started interacting with the crowd, until the bands started interacting with the crowd, they picked up to a degree eventually and things livened up gradually as the night progressed.
All in all these bands performed very well on the night.
Defeater were last to perform on the night, they were lively and energetic and keen to get the crowd going from the start, the crowd were still quite slow to pick up until lead vocalist Derek Archambault pointed this out saying “they aint come to just stand around”. They reacted well to this and the bands continuous interaction with the crowd had the atmosphere getting much better.
They performed songs “Dear Father”, “I Don’t Mind”, “Red, White and Blue” amongst a few others and Derek Archambault wasn’t shy of putting the microphone to the crowd a lot, which they welcomed by screaming back the lyrics and going ‘wild’, which surprisingly had some fans even running on stage and throwing themselves off.
Towards the end of the night there was a buzz in the venue and it was a really good night which I enjoyed and by reaction of the crowd, I think they did also.
